Historical: Built in 1908, the Frye Hotel predates the Smith Tower and was the largest hotel north of San Francisco. A Seattle P-I article dated April 6, 1911 read, “The public is invited to call and inspect a hotel of which the City of Seattle may justly be proud; a twelve story Class A building, containing 350 rooms, 200 with private bath, with interior finish throughout of marble and mahogany. A hotel without an inside room; every room fitted with all the modern conveniences… Rooms without bath from $1.00 and up; with, $1.50 and up.”
LIHI purchased the Frye in 1997, saving it from conversion to market rate units. Grand (Re)Opening Press Release
